ⓘ Tokyo 8th district

Tōkyō 8th district is a single-member constituency of the House of Representatives in the national Diet of Japan. It is located in the most populous part of Tōkyō Metropolis, and covers the metropoliss Suginami Ward. The district was created in 1994 as part of an electoral reform effort in the Japanese House of Representatives, and was first implemented in the 1996 general election.

As of 2015, this area was home to 365.194 voters.

Before a number of electoral reforms in 1994, the district administration Suginami was part of Tokyos 4th district, where five representatives was elected in single transferable vote.

The only representative for the 8th district since its creation has been Nobuteru Ishihara of the LDP, currently the faction Ishihara, son of former Minister of ecology and the Governor of Tokyo, Ishihara Shintarō.
