ⓘ Tokyo 3rd district

The Tokyo 3rd district is a constituency of the House of Representatives in the Diet of Japan. It is located in Tokyo and covers parts of the former city of Tokyo and Tokyos outlying islands. The district consists of the wards of Shinagawa and parts of Ōta, the towns of Ōshima and Hachijō and the villages of Toshima, Niijima, Kōzushima, Miyake, Mikurajima, Aogashima and Ogasawara. As of 2012, 482.494 eligible voters were registered in the district.

Until the electoral reform of 1994, this area was part of Tokyo 2nd district where five representatives was elected in single transferable vote.

The current representative from Tokyos 3rd district Hirotaka Ishihara of the liberal democratic party of Japan, the LDP, the son of the former Governor of a Prefecture and the Minister of the environment Shintarō Ishihara of the Japan restoration party, formerly LDP and brother of the current Minister of the environment to Nobuteru Ishihara of the LDP. In 2012, Ishihara with a minimum score defeated incumbent Jin Matsubara, the DPJ, Hatoyama and Kawabata group, who began his political career in 1985 as a candidate in the Tokyo Metropolitan Assembly for the new Liberal club and later represented Ōta in the Metropolitan Assembly as an independent with zekin farm is "tax group" support, subsequently joined the LDP in Japan, the renewal party JRP, the new frontier party NFP, the Liberal party, the good of the party Board of GGP and finally Democratic party DPJ in 1998.
