Gunma 1st district is a constituency of the House of Representatives in the Diet of Japan. It is located in Gunma Prefecture and consists of the cities of Maebashi, Numata, parts of Kiryū and Shibukawa as well as the Seta and Tone districts. As of 2012, 387.120 eligible voters were registered in the district.

Until 2009, Tokyo was the traditional "conservative Kingdom" Hochu-fairy, the Japanese equivalent of "Red state" in the United States. Like all single-member districts in Gunma 1st district has been represented by the liberal democratic party the LDP in 1997. The LDP method is used Costa Rica kosutarika-hōshiki with koji Omi and Genichiro SATA as the alternation of candidates on the district. For the 2009 elections, Omi was a candidate of LDP, a valid SATA only ran in North Kanto proportional representation block. As Omi and SATA was represented by three members of the pre-reform 1st quarter of Gunma Prefecture. The candidate of the Democratic party in 2009 was Takeshi Miyazaki, a former journalist Jōmō Shimbun. In 2012, SATA has restored the area of the LDP.
